I’ve been stood up…

I wrote in my last post about the structured wiring I am having installed in my house to allow for my home network to properly function. I was pretty stoked about it since it’d give me gigabit networking to all of the important parts of the house. I wasn’t really looking forward to the COST of doing it, but was more than willing to deal with that if it meant getting things done correctly, and well.
I talked with the owner of the company (Technology Interiors) on Monday when he called me back after my initial inquiry – he said they shouldn’t have any problems doing it, and told me their per hour charge. I needed it done and wanted to get it done soon, so we set up an appointment for the install for Thursday at noon. I marked on my calendar that I would be working from home during that time, and cleared it with the IT Director to cover all my bases. I then started to patiently wait for the time to come.
This morning at around 1130, I left for home. I was excited – it was THE DAY. I got home to find nobody here yet, which was fine as I was a couple of minutes early. A half hour later I was starting to get annoyed. An hour later I was furious.
I called the number I have for their CEO and got a busy signal, so I then emailed him to let him know and request that somebody contact me regarding this.
It’s now about 3 and a half hours after the appointment was scheduled to start, and I’ve received no contact at all from the company regarding it. This tells me that I’m not very important to them, and I feel like I’m being blown off.
One thing is for sure – they better have a good explanation for this, and give me SOME reason to give them another chance, I can understand something coming up preventing them from coming, but a phone call would be the acceptable way of handling that. As it is, I left the office early to accomodate them.
One thing I hate is when someone wastes my time.
So far, I’m not very impressed with Technology Interiors.
They seem to have done a good job with my friend’s house – hopefully they make things right here.
